Large seizures of counterfeit tobacco products have taken place in a number countries including; Austria, Ireland and Sri Lanka yielding seven million, 120 million and four million cigarettes respectively.
Cases and outcomes include in the Netherlands, a judge has ordered the founders of The Pirate Bay to remove all links to the material of a group of Netherlands-based music and film makers, or face fines of up to $9 million. However, the founders claim they have sold the file-sharing website and no longer have control over it.
Policy developments concerning illegal file-sharing include in France, the constitutional court has finally given the go-ahead for the government’s plans to cut off internet access to repeat illegal downloaders... The European parliament is also preparing an agreement for member states on how to deal with illegal file-sharing.
