In the USA, a number of large counterfeit seizures took place including; over 24,000 pairs of branded socks and thousands of fake luxury goods and sportswear... In Mexico, 3.5 million counterfeit cigarettes were seized bearing fake Marlboro logos... Similarly, over a million fake cigarettes were seized at a port in the UK.
Cases and outcomes include in France, a court found eBay responsible for brand counterfeiting taking place on the auction site and ordered it to pay luxury group LVMH €80,000, however, this was much less than the €4 million in damages requested by the group...
