Cases and Outcomes reported last week include a Chinese high court ordering a manufacturer and distributor to pay 4.3 million Yuan ($580,300) in damages to Kenwood for selling Kenwood look-alike transceivers labelled "Kenwei"… Jeweler Tiffany & Co has launched a lawsuit against eBay, alleging that the latter does not do enough to stop the sale of counterfeit products on its site… A woman has been jailed for six months in the UK for copying music and films and selling them over eBay… The peer-to-peer site Shareconnector.com has closed after it received an official notice about its copyright infringement from Dutch anti-piracy watchdog BREIN… CDC Games announced it helped the Chinese Government shut down what it believes is the largest pirate server group that was illegally operating CDC’s popular online game, Yulgang.
Policy developments last week include the European Union’s plans to use a key summit to urge China to take firmer action against product piracy and guarantee the safety of exported food… China has also launched it’s first ever “Patent Week” to promote IPR and patent protection… Russia and South Korea have been meeting to discuss a new version of an agreement on protection of intellectual property between the two countries… There are calls in Taiwan to take more action against underground fake liquor factories.
